The hormone ghrelin may lead to overeating?

eating_shark.jpgGhrelin is a powerful hormone that your ability to gain or lose weight.

Its significance is often overlooked. Ghrelin is the hormone that increases your feeling of hunger and therefore increases your food intake. It is also the hormone responsible for so-called "food addiction".

So, what can we learn about ghrelin to help manage our weight?

Firstly, it is important to have a good night's sleep, usually at least seven hours. Lack of sleep increases ghrelin levels and can contribute to more hunger and weight gain. Most people produce the largest amount of ghrelin during normal sleeping hours since ghrelin production is bound to the body's own natural circadian rhythm. So, are the ones who work the night shift, or continue until the late hours of the night are more likely to be overweight than their early-to-bed early-to-rise counterparts.

In recent years, scientists have been able to an anti-obesity vaccine that ghrelin effects block can produce. The vaccine is used only on rats and is in the early stages of testing. The idea that there may be a vaccine that helps control appetite and hunger is unthinkable.

However, some people are born with modified hormones and genes that lead to abnormal ghrelin production. These people would get the best advantage of such vaccine.

It is important to be in touch with your body and the different ways the experiences hunger to understand why you overeat can understand. A good way to practice this to experience yourself twenty minutes of feel hungry before meet yourself. Listen to your body and think about how you feel. See if you notice any differences in feelings of hunger you at different times of the day can decipher.

Maybe some feelings of the "hunger" is not really true feelings of hunger completely, but instead, resulting from any emotional need. The more in-touch and hold we are of our body, the healthier we can be.
