There are three qualities to a good meal and food is only one of them.
Of course, is a delicious but we forget not the importance of good company and a pleasant wine. Some research shows that wine is not only a key to a good meal, but is also good for us.
Means this, that the next time we do that with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, food, we improve both our health and our well-being?
The idea that is wine good for our health has for some time, but found scientific basis in the 1990s. On Sunday, 17 November 1991 the French physician and immunologist, Serge Renaud University Bordeaux, on the 60 minutes, announced, that fondness for wine drinking his countrymen popular American TV news program, their low rate of deaths due to heart disease into account. Leaps and bounds in the subsequent four weeks wine sales in America by 44%. Wine was a tonic.
The health benefits of wine are a little more complex, as Dr. Renaud is first executed. First of all, it is important to bear in mind that alcohol can have some very serious adverse effects on health and society. When in excess, wine, as any other alcoholic drink consumed weaknesses, can the immune system increase the risk of certain types of cancer and liver and brain damage. However, wine (especially red wine) is believed to have beneficial properties.
Serge Renaud original research noted that is linked to coronary heart disease with a high intake of saturated fatty acids in most countries. The situation seems cancelled in France, where deaths from heart disease are similar to developed countries like the UK much lower than many, despite the French eat much cheese, Pate ' and pudding. Dr. Reynaud referred to this peculiar situation ' French Paradox'. His original research shown that alcohol worked at the blood Haemostatic mechanism, that wine the blood circulating separated properly.
Since Renaud's landmark piece of research, there is an enormous amount of research on the health benefits of wine. It can sometimes feel as published every few weeks alternating say wine a new study or panacea giving a life or a deeply dangerous substance is alcohol. The truth is probably somewhere in the Middle - wine drunk in moderation can part of a healthy diet. So we must feel certainly a delicious, fruity bottle of Merlot the next time we go marks and Spencer guilty about picking. But what is it about wine, which contributes to its health-giving properties?
The health benefits of wine are largely believed to lie in anti oxidants. We all seem to be crazy antioxidant nowadays. Will your benefits are praised in magazines, on television and on food packaging, but what are these mysterious small guys? Very short, antioxidants are substances, to protect our cells from the effects of free radicals. Have nothing to do free radicals with anarchism, but are molecules that are harmful to our bodies. Antioxidants are fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as some meat and fish. Foods with higher than normal concentrations of antioxidants are "super food" called. In summary, antioxidants are good for you, and you can be found in wine.
The antioxidants found originally in wine, where they are from come from the grapes. The type of antioxidants in grapes and wine are polyphenol antioxidants, which are also found in green tea and cacao among other things. The most important of the antioxidants found in wine is Resveratrol, which is concentrated in the skins of the grape. This means that red wine is its color and taste from the skins, has more resveratrol than white wine. So, red wine is believed to give especially health.
One of the most important advantages of the antioxidants found in wines is their properties to prevent cancer. A study published in the International Journal of cancer in 2004 found, drink one or two of red wine a day could half rate of prostate cancer. This may have to do well with Resveratrol in wine, as a recent study suggests. In 2008, researchers at the University of Rochester Medical Center found that cells were killed pancreatic cancer, after he treated with resveratrol and radiation.
Return to cardiovascular disease (CVD), Serge Renaud colleagues Dr. Michel de Lorgeril, a study was published in 2002, that more moderate red wine drinking reduces the risk of a second heart attack. This can be known also linked to the existence of a group of chemical substances in red wine as saponins. Found the absorption of cholesterol in the skin of the grapes and olive oil, and soybeans, saponins block.
The existence of Saporins in red wine was by Andrew Waterhouse, Professor of Oenology (wine chemistry) at the University of California, Davis, found, also found that the amount of the chemical varied between grapes. The red wines tested by the team at Davis, Red Zinfandel was found, that contain the highest levels of Saporins, Syrah the second highest. Then Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, which each had the same amount. Much less Saporin had white wines.
Despite these seemingly beneficial chemicals in red wine, problems which have raised French Paradox. Health of French lifestyle has called into question was (they're not really that was healthy and coronary heart disease under-reported or rise, eat as they really unhealthy food, especially the Transfats)- and attention to other factors that could explain the health of the French (they currently eat less Transfats and more sunlight vitamin D increases and is good for the arteries).
As with all science, some disagreement there, but it seems to be good reason to the assumption is, that drinking wine in moderation for you and your welfare. There is nothing like sitting around laughing with friends over a good meal and a glass of good wine. It is so good for the soul.
This is good for wine lovers among us, so let's toast, the good news. So make sure it is only a single glass (or two for special occasions), but then again a different glass is aways to look forward to tomorrow.
